Motivational speakers can lecture you, pastors can bless you and government can give you empowerment but if you don’t do the following, you will never succeed easily.
1. Manage your business yourself from 6AM to 6PM, never entrust anyone to run your business. No one is interested in making you rich but to steal. Actually, create your own reputation with customers and you will realise that when you are at the shop, you make good sales. Workers can even chase a customer who has a k1 less but you the owner, you can even give a potential customers some discounts.
2. When given the contract, deliver quality and on time. Attempting to make more money on people’s money is dangerous.
3. Don’t jointly Manage your business with your family. Let each family manage own business but help each other in decisions or financially but not together.
4. Don’t be luxurious, live within your means but dress nicely and appear professionally so that you can be entrusted with big projects.
5. Never keep reinvesting your profits otherwise your business will collapse when you invest all your money. In 2011, I ordered timber from kalulushi for k5,000 and I sold it for k9,000, then reordered it for k8,500. After selling, I made k13,000 and ordered another timber for k11,000 and after selling, I made k19,000. I kept doing this until capital was k40,000. I then ordered timber for k38,000 (two trucks). One truck involved in an accident in kapiri, the other one reached very well but there was rains for three days and the part of buseko where we offloaded the 6″, 8″, it was like a river. You know this type of timber became black. In short, I ended up making k7,800.
6. Lock your capital to a certain level and then start using surplus to building houses or buying properties. In doing so, the temptation to think you have a lot of money will reduce. Keep less money in your account.
7. Don’t forget to help the needy and never stop going to church in the name of busy.
8. Stop drinking and give side chick’s a distance. There is nothing good from side chick’s except for a five seconds things. Love your spouse and pray together.
9. Don’t get a loan to boast your business, its a trap. Supply what you can manage and never jump to become like GBM
10. Avoid politics because the person you insult today may be the president tomorrow.
11. If you can’t employ qualified people, make sure you identify some professional people like an accountant and start working with them on part time. When you are called for bidding interviews, go with these people and when you win the tender, give them a share. Never be clever.
12. Try to be as straight as you can.
