Two brothers on the Copperbelt aged 24 and 18 years respectively have died in a road traffic accident which happened on the Ndola-Kitwe dual carriage way.
The accident happened when Muchelemba Malawo aged 24, with passenger Chishimba Malawo while driving a Benz with extensive speed hit into a tipper truck.
The two brothers are believed to have died on the spot as they both are suspected to have sustained internal injuries from the impact.
The driver of the Shacman tipper truck Owen Mangwachi aged 26 escaped unhurt.
Copperbelt Province commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba said the accident occurred on Sunday at about 21:00 hours along the Ndola-Kitwe dual carriage way.
Mr Mweemba said that the accident happened when the Benz was being driven from the direction of south to North and in the process, due to excessive speed, it hit into the truck which was in front also moving in the same direction.
He said involved were two motor vehicles the first being a Benz car registration number ASB 1588 zm which had an extensively damaged front part and was being driven by Muchelemba, the now deceased who sustained a fractured right leg, bleeding from the nose, suspected internal injuries and died on the spot.
“On board was a male passenger Chishimba aged 18 who sustained a fractured left leg, suspected internal injuries and died on the spot. Also involved was another motor vehicle Shacman tipper truck registration number ADE 6506 zm which had a damaged rear part, broken rear lights and it was being driven by Owen Mangwachi aged 26 who escaped unhurt,” he said.
