Unkown number of people have been burnt to death in a road accident involving three vehicles that happened along Ndola-Kabwe in Masangano area.
Among the deceased is a driver of a Toyota Allion bearing registration number BAX 8158ZM who was burnt beyond recognition inside the vehicle.
On board the Toyota Allion were an unknown number of passengers who are also believed to have been burnt beyond recognition.
Copperbelt Province Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said the accident happened on May 15,2023 around 12:00 hours.
Mr Mweemba explained that the accident happened when the Toyota Allion which was being driven from North to South failed to keep to its lane and went to hit a Tanzanian truck which was coming from the opposite direction.
The driver of the Tanzanian truck did not stop after the accident.
He explained that later the Allion hit a Shacman truck and trailer registration number AHB 1299,AHB1374T which was being driven in the opposite direction laden with sulphuric acid.
He said the third vehicle was being driven by Musukwa Samson 34 and on board was a passenger Harry Chuunda 29 and both escaped unhurt.
“Involved were three motor vehicles the first one being a Toyota Allion registration number BAX 8158zm which was extensively damaged and burnt. The vehicle was being driven by an unknown driver who was burnt beyond recognition inside the vehicle and on board were an unknown number of passengers who could not be recognised,”he said.
He said the Shacman truck and trailer had its horse completely burnt.
