CLEMENT Sinkamba’s eight-year reign as Zambia Rugby Union (ZGU) president has come to an end after suffering a 21 – 11 defeat to Chileshe Bweupe at the elective annual general meeting in Kabwe.

Bweupe, a former ZGU secretary general has returned to the union, this time as president after polling 21 votes, ten better than the incumbent.
Rugby councillors  gathered in Kabwe to elect a new administration which saw the top three positions changing hands with incumbents all toasted out.
Bweupe will be deputised by Jeremiah Manda who has been elected vice president after a landslide win of 20 votes, his closest contender George Funga polled nine votes while incumbent Thomas Chani could only manage three votes.
There was no respite in the race of general secretary as incumbent Musunka Silugwe failed to retain her post when she polled 12 votes, eight behind winner Cecillia Tresha.
Longa Chikwano went through unopposed for the position of treasurer.
The new executive is complete with three committee members in Thompson Ngulube (21), Thengo Ngondo (20) and Charles Banda (19).
Sinkamba has been at the helm of ZGU since 2015 after he took over from late Martin Musunka who stepped then citing personal reasons.
