Likili bus crashes into train in Mpika

SIX people including a bus driver and an infant have died in a road traffic accident involving a Tazara passenger train and a Likili public service bus.

Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale has confirmed in a media statement.

Mr Mwale said on board were 65 passengers.

He said the accident occurred today around 13:00 hours at Kabuka Railway crossing point in Mpika District.

Mr Mwale said initial investigations revealed that the bus hit into the passenger train bearing number M22.

“65 passengers were on board. Six died including bus driver and an infant. The bus was heading to Kasama while the train was enroute to Nakonde,” he said.

He said the condition of the casualties will to be communicated.
