THE body of a Luanshya man who threw himself on Gideon dam after his mother failed to give him a K2 has been retrieved.
Samson Zulu 32 of Mikomfwa area committed suicide at the dam on July 3,2023 around 18:00 hours.
The deceased was retrieved from the dam the next morning by a team of firefighters who conducted a search.
Elly Mutale the mother of the deceased explained that her son asked for a K2 which she did not have and that’s how he left home.
Copperbelt Province Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said later an eyewitness saw Mr Zulu was seen taking off his slippers, trousers,t-shirt and belt before throwing himself in the dam.
“The incident was reported by Christopher Kasonde ,a driver of Mikomfwa township, who explained that on his way home from Buntungwa overspill using Gideon road, he saw the deceased removing slippers, trousers,t-shirt and belt before throwing himself in the dam,” Mr Mweemba said.
