FORMER Nkana FC striker, Alex Ng’onga, says he is happy to join Congolese giants TP Mazembe after he impressed during trials in Lubumbashi. The former Nkana FC striker and his former team mate at Kalampa, Gilroy Chimwemwe have signed two year deals with the five times African Champions after impressing during their assessment period in Lubumbashi. Ng’onga who was forced to dump Nkana for Mazembe after he was handed a six months ban and a K20000 fine by the Football Association of Zambia disciplinary committee for offensive behavior, said he had always dreamed of playing for the Congolese giants.
The 30 year old who was punished for his behavior during a FAZ Super League’s Week-14 Super League match between Nkana and Power Dynamos in Kitwe, said he would work hard to help the Congolese giants achieve their objectives. After he was substituted in the Kitwe derby, Ng’onga vented his anger on a SuperSport pitch side microphone after angrily tearing his jersey before glaring television cameras and stunned supporters to draw attention to himself. “When I was young, I dreamed of playing for TP Mazembe and I’m happy to be here. I just have to work hard to support the team,” Ng’onga said in an interview in Lubumbashi. Ng’onga scored a brace as Mazembe beat CS Don Bosco 3-2 in a friendly match last Tuesday in Kamalondo.
The former Nkana striker also scored and provided an assist as Mazembe romped to victory in a friendly against Blessings FC before he scored a goal in Mazembe’s final friendly match against Lubumbashi Sports Club which ended 3-0 in favour of the Congolese giants. The four goals in three friendly games attracted Mazembe to sign Ng’onga on a two are loan deal. Alex Ng’onga has already conquered Kamalondo. The Zambian is the first offensive player to sign at the TP Mazembe in 2023. The former Nkana striker has signed a two-season loan,” the Club confirmed.
Meanwhile Chimwemwe, the Zimbabwean international who played as right back at Nkana joins the five-time African champions as a free agent following the expiry of his contract with the Kitwe giants.
