Police have since launched a manhunt for suspects in both cases who are currently nowhere to be found.
The first victim aged 12 was defiled while she was walking back home ,when the suspect asked her to help him carry oranges and then he lured her into a bush.
In the second incident, the victim was defiled by her mothers flatmate who lured her into his flat and sexually abused her on his sofa.
Copperbelt police commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba who confirmed both incidents said the defilement of the 12-year-old occurred in Kasompe area of Chingola on Tuesday around 18:00 hours.
“Brief facts are that the victim was walking alone along the road within Airport area when she met a male person who asked her to assist him carry oranges.The man then took advantage and dragged her in the nearby bush and defiled her. She did not inform her parents on that day until yesterday, January 18 when she informed her father of what transpired to her the previous day,” he said.
In the other incident, Mr Mweemba said that it occurred in Ndola’s Lubuto area last week on Saturday around 16:00 hours.
He said the incident was reported by the victims mother that her flatmate Simon Bwalya defiled her daughter.
“Brief facts are that on Saturday, January 14, at around 16:00 hours the complainant was inside her house, whilst the victim was washing clothes outside, when she suddenly heard her daughter crying. When she went outside, she discovered that the voice of her crying daughter was coming from the neighbour’s house. This prompted her to rush there and entered the sitting room. She found the accused person having carnal knowledge with her child who is a minor on the sofas,” he said.
He added that police are currently looking for the suspect.
