Boy 4, found dead and partially burnt, police say

A FOUR-YEAR-OLD  boy identified as Nchimunya Mwando has been found dead at Shanyama farms in chief Shakumbila, in Shibuyuni district.

The boy’s body was found partially burnt about 5 kilometers away from Mainza village where he lived  with his sister aged 25.

According to police investigations, on June 9, 2023, the boy was seen playing around within Mainza village with friends until around 11:00 hours when he went back home.

After leaving home, it is alleged that he never returned again until he was reported missing to the Police.

Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale said from the time the boy was reported missing, police in the area and family members have been searching for the child from the nearby bushes and neighbouring villages until on July 3, 2023 around 06:30 hours when some children from Shachele village who were hunting with dogs discovered the body of the deceased.

“Police were alerted and immediately rushed to the scene were the body was found in a decomposed state and partially burnt as bushfire had swept through the farm area. The body was identified as that of Nchimunya Mwando by family members and his friends,” he said.

Mr Mwale said the remains have since been burried and the grave marked for possible postmortem.

He said investigation have been instituted into the matter.
