THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) is being investigated by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) after public complaints that they sold more tickets than the stadium capacity for the ABSA Cup final between Forest Rangers and MUZA.
In a statement, the CCPC revealed that it is investigating the matter after receiving complaints from fans who were turned away from the stadium even though they had tickets.
“It has come to the attention of the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission that some ticket holders of the ABSA Cup final played at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka on Saturday, May 27, 2023, were turned away on the pretext that the stadium was full,” the statement read.
“The allegations of selling tickets to more people than the stadium capacity, coupled with the failure to refund ticket holders affected, appears to be a violation of the Competition and Consumer Protection Act No. 24 of 2010,” the statement added
On Monday, Lusaka lawyer Kim’s Banda dragged Football House to the CCPC for being turned away from Woodlands Stadium despite buying two tickets.
