Five criminals arrested for stealing at the on going Trade Fair in Ndola

FIVE suspected criminals have been apprehended in Ndola for stealing laptops and cash from the Trade Fair grounds.

After being apprehended, the suspects revealed that they grouped in Ndola for criminal activities ahead of the Trade Fair.

The suspects have been identified as Justine Kolala 47 a resident from Kitwe,Cosmas Tembo 53 from Lusaka,Watson Tembo 50 Lusaka,Friday Muyutu 50 Lusaka  and Abraham Chilufya from Ndola who lead the police to the arrest of his colleagues.

Copperbelt Province Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said suspects went away with a laptop valued at K34,000 and K10,200 cash and a passport.

Mr Mweemba said the items were stolen from the Indian pavilion stand where exhibitors were advertising their products.

He said that the suspects also stole another laptop valued at K9000 from Right Price Business Centre.

Mr Mweemba said Chilufya was taken to the police by the complainant from Right Price Business Centre after he was caught stealing the laptop.

He said during interrogations the suspect led the police to the other four suspects.

“We received a report from Srujan Bhagat 29 that the company property was stolen. The items are a Dell laptop valued at K34,000, cash amounting to K10,200 and one passport all valued at K44,200 were stolen by unknown criminals at the Indian pavilion stand where they are advertising their products,”said Mr Mweemba.

He explained that the laptop, money and the passport were in a laptop bag behind the seats at the stand.

Mr Mweemba said the suspects revealed that they stole the laptops which have been recovered by the police but denied stealing the money.
