FORMER Kafue Gorge Regional Training Centre (KGRTC) executive director Kaela Siame has been sentenced to two years imprisonment with hard labour for illegally approving payment of substance allowances to KGRTC workers worth US$35,000.

Mr Siame was this morning found guilty of nine counts of abuse of authority of office by Lusaka Magistrate Faides Hamaundu, who sat in an Economic and Financial Crimes Court.

In June last year, the Anti-Corruption Commission arrested and charged Mr Siame, 57, of Camp 1 Kafue Gorge, with nine counts of Abuse of authority of office.

It was alleged to have abused his authority of office when he, on multiple occasions between 2016 and 2020, when arbitrarily approved applications for subsistence allowances amounting to US$35,000 for a project that was fully sponsored.
