PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has dismissed Luapula province Minister Derricky Chilundika with immediate effect.
The Head of State has terminated the employment of Mr Chilundika pursuant to Article 270 of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia.
“President Hichilema has since thanked the former Minister for the services he rendered to the nation and wished him well in his future endeavours,” State House Chief Communication Specialist Clayson Hamasaka has disclosed.
A day after being fired by President Hakainde Hichilema, Luapula province Minister Derricky Chilundika has been arrested for illegally mining sugilite mineral ore.
The now former provincial Minister and Nchanga Member of Parliament has been arrested for carrying out mining activities without a Licence contrary to Section 12(1)(3) of the Mines and Minerals Act Number 11 of 2015.
Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale said in a statement that Mr Chilundika while acting together with others, between 4th and 13th January, 2023, did mine 23 tonnes of Sugilite Mineral Ore in Chembe District without a Licence.
“He detained in Police custody waiting to be formally charged,”he said.
Yesterday, the Head of State terminated the employment of Mr Chilundika pursuant to Article 270 of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia.
“President Hichilema thanked the former Minister for the services he rendered to the nation and wished him well in his future endeavours.
