LEGENDARY Cup fighters Mufulira Wanderers have been promoted to the Super League after spending three seasons in the National Division One.
Wanderers is one of the most successful and celebrated teams in Zambia with a rich history of having produced some of the best players to have ever graced a football pitch in this country.
Over the years, Wanderers have been a shadow of their former selves, spending most of their time in the bottom tier while their traditional rivals like Nkana, Power Dynamos and Kabwe Warriors swim in the prestigious pool of Super League football.
The green and white striped team has however faught its way back into the top league after finishing the season with 57 points.
Their Super League status was earned this afternoon following a 2-1 win over Konkola Blades.
Evans Chisanga opened the scoring in the 4th minute, followed by a goal from the league’s top scorer, Clive Biyeta, who converted a penalty in the 43rd minute.
Wanderers will be joined in the top league by Blades, Mutondo Stars and Trident FC.
The 2022/23 National League season concluded this afternoon with Trident, based in Kalumbila, being crowned champions. They secured the title with two games to spare, marking a remarkable achievement in their own right.
