Numba to lead COSAFA preps

Current AffairsSports

KABWE Warriors coach Mumamba Numba and his Power Dynamos counterpart Mwenya Chipepo will lead Zambia preparations for the COSAFA Cup while Avram Grant will be busy with the ‘main’ team in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The Football Association of Zambia has organized a friendly match with Kuwait but Chipolopolo will only field local based players with the other side taking on Ivory Coast the same week.

“As part of the build-up for the 2023 COSAFA Cup, Zambia have named a 30-member all-local provisional squad that will play an international friendly with Kuwait to be played in Egypt on 12 June, 2023.

“With the assignment coinciding with the Chipolopolo’s AFCON qualifier against Ivory Coast, Kabwe Warriors coach Numba Mumamba has been named coach of the local squad and will be assisted by Power Dynamos coach Mwenya Chipepo and his Green Buffaloes counterpart Masautso Tembo,” A FAZ statement read.

Mumamba has since summoned 30 players for the assignment.

“FAZ aims to expose the local players to competitions such as COSAFA in order to build a strong local assemblage that will compete in continental competitions such as the African Nations Championship (CHAN),” FAZ stated.
