A Special Forces recruited candidate has died after he collapsed during the mandatory medical military requirement run in Ndola.
Elisha Daka 21 was pronounced dead upon arrival at 1Commando Unit Camp hospital where he was rushed.
The ‘Mandatory medical military requirement run’ is part of the physical assessment tests that are conducted for one to pass the required medical examinations.
And Zambia Army Commander, Lieutenant General Sitali Dennis Alibuzwi is saddened with the death of one of the Special Forces recruitment candidate in Ndola.
He said the Army will, however, continue to enforce all necessary standards to ensure the safety and well-being of all candidates participating in the recruitment process.
Lieutenant General Alibuzwi on behalf of the Zambia Army expressed his deepest condolences to the Daka family during this difficult time.
And in a media statement issued Zambia Army spokesperson Colonel Martin Liyungu said Mr Daka’s elder sister has since been informed.
“We however, wish to advise short listed candidates not to force themselves to attend the interviews if they are not feeling well but wait for other opportunities in the near future or apply for employment in organisations which do not demand for physical and mental challenging activities,” he said.
He further advised all candidates participating in all selection processes categories (officers selection board, regular soldier recruitment and special forces operatives recruitment) to have a relatively high level of physical fitness.
