THE JOURNEY OF A JOB SEEKER

BlogCurrent AffairsEntrepreneurship
Honestly speaking, job hunting is frustrating and discouraging especially after dropping 100s of applications, here are some hints on job hunting.
1. Don’t believe in corruption as it will hurt you more to borrow money, corrupt an officer and never to be given a job. It is a seed that will one day backfire on you.
2. Never believe that they have already employed and adverts are formalities. I can assure you that so many companies employ people on merit.
3. Never believe in connections but your ability. Time and chance happens to all people no matter how long it takes.
4. Ensure at every given moment you have an updated CV and save your qualifications on soft copy for easy transmission.
5. Ensure you visit job recruiting websites like Go Zambia Jobs, CV Africa, LinkedIn etc. 100s of jobs are posted every day and a number of us got Jobs from there.
6. Have the habit of dropping your application and CV to any job you see which matches your qualifications. Sometimes companies are desperate to employ and they will go into their drawers and pick any application.
7. Sacrifice for job internships or attachments even if they are not paying you.
8. If you are given any job, your focus is to build your CV and not a big salary, negotiate with your first employer as much as you can.
9. If you have chance while looking for jobs, keep upgrading your qualifications but don’t include your masters degree qualifications on your CV if they are looking for diploma holders.
10. Keep praying, all employers, Human Resource Managers breath the air which is provided by God, they walk on the land created by God and God can change anything to have you employed.
11. Always behave well and live with people in peace as you can meet potential employers anywhere including on a public bus, market or bars.
12. Don’t post rubbish stuff on your Social media handles or be a political cadre. Most employers now check your social handles when you are shortlisted for interviews.
13. Don’t have a fixed CV, keep redoing it according to the job advert.
14. Don’t forget to consult Mr. Mupakasi on CV matters and guidance.
