A GROUP of law enforcers has been constituted to apprehend former presidential political advisor Kaizer Zulu and his surety Munir Zulu for their failure to appear before a magistrate.
The Lusaka Magistrate Court heard yesterday that efforts are being made to execute arrest warrants issued against the two Zulus.
Lusaka Magistrate Sylvia Munyinya is concerned that the entire state machinery has been failing to trace the duo and bring them to court in accordance with her order.
When the case resumed yesterday, the magistrate wonder how the arresting officer in the matter has been failing to execute the warrant despite the accused being reported to be roaming within the city.
“You can’t tell me that state machinery can fail to find an accused person who is busy roaming around. You have not told me anything!
“But I will give you time, and this time around, you should follow up on the whereabouts of the accused” she told the officer before adjourning the case to July 18 this year.
Earlier, the arresting officer told the magistrate that efforts are being made to ensure that the two are detained and taken to court.
“The search was intensified; we were in constant touch with one of the sureties [Munir].
“The joint effort to get Peter Kaizer Zulu proved futile till to today. Communication with the two sureties indicated that Peter Kaizer Zulu is unwilling to meet with the two sureties,” the officer said.
At this point, the magistrate asked the officer to explain Munir’s whereabouts, to which he responded “he is equally at large”.
Earlier, Munir’s surety Chilubi lawmaker Mulenga Fube explained that he had engaged some people to help locate Kaizer and that on Sunday, he was informed that the accused was allegedly spotted at some bar in Chelstone.
